WHY PROMOTIONAL PRODUCTS?
Question! You might ask why should we use promotional products? In a recent survey printed in the Harvard Business Review reported that only "15% of magazine readers remembered seeing the average media advertisement and 25% of viewers recalled the average television commercial the day after they had seen it!"
By contrast, a research group, Schreibner & Associates, of Illinois, conducted a study to determine the ability of recipients to recall advertiser's names on specialties that were given to them. Thirty-nine percent (39%) of the recipients were able to identify the donor of the free specialty item given to them SIX MONTHS after they received it when verbally described! Each time an "advertising specialty" product is used, an "advertising" impression is made...and most importantly, remembered.
A study was also conducted to determine the usefulness of the "advertising specialty" products given to consumers and businesses. Three specific advertising items were given to a control group of consumers. After six months, 66% of the first advertising specialty product was still in use, 76% of the second and 80% of the third.
A further study showed that 70% of people interviewed had purchased products or services from firms who gave them a free specialty-advertising product. The study also showed that direct mail response increased by 321% when a free specialty-advertising product was included in the mailing.
As these statistics reveal, advertising specialty items are retained and used. Not so with newspapers or magazines. How much time elapses between the newspaper's arrival and it being dumped in the trash? I think you see what I mean. Ad specialties means the advertiser's name remains with the recipient. We are so overwhelmed with T.V. commercials, radio spots, billboards and magazine ads, that retention is primarily subliminal. An advertising specialty product that is being used offers both conscious and subconscious awareness.
